Are we walking into our Future backward?
Can you imagine the impact of not knowing our past and not learning from individuals who have been on the journey towards wisdom and maturity?
You would think that we ALL want to chase after our best life and surround ourselves with individuals who inspire us to be, do, and have more than yesterday.
As an adolescent, it was intriguing to watch The Jetson. You remember, "Meet George Jetson." Some of you are singing the song in your head because it was a catchy theme song. What's impressive is that this show was birth in 1962 with a family living in a utopian future. People live in housing in the sky, work a three-day workweek, drive aero cars that look like flying saucers and have incredible conveniences that leave them with plenty of leisure time. What would I do with all that leisure time on my hand? I would lay on a cloud (remembering we are in the sky), enjoy the atmosphere and read books.
Homes in the sky and flying saucers just got me thinking about how we as a country can travel out of space (if you have the money) and electric cars. It appears that we are moving forward to our utopian society. However, we can only grow ahead with leadership that values everyone, robotic-made named Rosie and Astro's talking dog.
I am sure it would be great to live in the sky—however, the flying saucer is a vehicle. Sign me up today for the flying saucer. I even would not mind having KITT, from the Knight Rider. KITT was a bulletproof, fireproof car that drives as fast as 300 miles per hour, and best of all, it talks and guides you. Yes!
The Jetsons was a cartoon, and Knight Rider was a drama television show. So, we do have the Tesler, which is known for being an excellent SMART electric car. I read and heard of knowledgeable individuals who trust Tesler's power—allowing the Tesler to lead them on the roads. I can understand because I use my GPS even when I know where I am driving. I drive more at peace.
Just think for a moment if we were not able to imagine. I was brought up knowing that reading books allowed me to travel the world and experience different cultures in my mind. One interesting fact about imagination is it gives us the power to process and form mental pictures of experiences. We can do that by reading all books, different authors, and various backgrounds. Imagination allows us to enjoy the Jetsons and Knight Rider and many other ideas.
Just as I drive more at peace with GPS, lately, I imagine leaders trusting GOD to guide them to kick into gear serving others, modeling behavior that generations can follow, inspiring positive change for all, listening with a focused mind and loving heart, and wanting to engage with everyone to create a more inclusive world. I guess I am visualizing more people Leading with a S.M.I.L.E.
I am striving to walk forward into the future. How about you?
